
According To The variety At the China box office for Oct. 17–19, “Row to Win” climbed to the top spot with RMB30.8 million ($4.3 million), according to consultancy Artisan Gateway.
The PMF Pictures release has reached $44.6 million since opening on Sept. 30. The comedy-drama directed by Ma Lin and starring Huang Bo, Fan Chengcheng, Yin Tao and Li Jiaqi, follows a coastal-town family – led by a once-tough patriarch – who rally together in hard times and push for a comeback.
“The Volunteers: Peace at Last” (China Film Group) move to second with $3.6 million and has now earned $79.6 million. The film, which commemorates the Chinese People’s Volunteer Army entering the Korean War, stars Wu Jing and Zhang Ziyi and marks the third chapter in Chen Kaige’s “The Volunteers” trilogy. Two new titles entered the chart: Disney’s “Tron: Ares” debuted in third on $2.8 million, while Warner Bros.’ “One Battle After Another” opened fourth with $2.5 million.
Rounding out the top five, Huace Pictures’ “A Writer’s Odyssey 2” took $2.3 million and stands at $49.4 million to date. The sequel to Lu Yang’s 2021 fantasy action hit, from Huace Pictures, continues the meta-narrative of intertwining fiction and reality, with Lei Jiayin reprising his role alongside Dong Zijian and Yang Mi.
Weekend box office totaled $23.5 million, pushing China’s 2025 year-to-date gross to $6.146 billion, up 18.3% on the same period last year. The total was just half a million above the previous weekend, continuing the quiet period following the National Day holiday week.
